Merkel Defies ‘crude and vulgar’ Trump, Backs Macron’s Call For European Army | Zero Hedge

KW: Trump Mocks Macron: “They Were Starting To Learn German In Paris Before The US Came Along”. Oh Dear … the boyfriends appear to have fallen out. Macron needs to learn that when it comes to dishing out dirt there is none more nasty than Donald Trump, he should just crawl back into his Rothschilds hole where he came from and enjoy the champagne.

Trump is vulgar, but EU has always been under US heel – George Galloway

What this dispute is all about is who pays for the U.S. led and dominated NATO. What the U.S. has done is install a whole lot of intermediate range nuclear weapons into Europe that threaten Russia and now NATO members France and Germany have come to realise that what Putin is telling them directly is that they are now first response targets themselves, not the U.S. that has imposed the missiles upon them. Trump wants the Europeans to pay for this rather than it be significantly American expense and that is why this new idea of Macron/Merkel is a European force that protects Europe from not only Russia but also the U.S. as potential enemy. In letting the U.S. set the agenda and not paying for anything much they have submersed their own countries into a confrontation that may not simply be anything to do with them and yet they will end up destroyed if conflict breaks out. Trump wants them to buy into NATO and U.S. foreign policy edicts that guarantee their own destruction if conflict starts whereas they now see the danger of the NATO alliance working against them all and having not had the guts to stand up to U.S. hegemony.

George Galloway says it like this ‘However crude, the mockery is fully in line with the goal Washington has set out long before Trump: to subdue its allies and adversaries alike, Galloway, a filmmaker, writer, orator, and former British MP with 30 years experience, believes.

It’s more vulgar and ugly, but it’s not different in substance. United States hegemony over Europe and the wider world has always been the goal since World War II, and remains the goal today. It’s just that Trump expresses it in a necessarily more vulgar way.”

From Zerohedge: During a ceremony honoring the 100th anniversary of World War I at the Arc de Triomphe on Sunday, French President Emmanuel Macron insulted Trump to his face by launching into a screed about the dangers of toxic “nationalism” and subtly accusing the US of abandoning its “moral values”.

This did not sit well with the US president, who was already facing criticism over his decision to show up late to a ceremony honoring the war dead (the administration blamed it on security concerns though it’s widely suspected that Trump didn’t want to get his hair wet), and Trump has let his displeasure be known in a series of tweets ridiculing Macron’s suggestion that Europe build its own army, saying that France and other European members of NATO would be better served by paying their fair share for NATO while daring them to leave and pay for their own protection.

And in his most abrasive tweet yet mocking the increasingly unpopular Macron’s imperial ambitions (no, really), Trump pointed out that, historically speaking, Europe has been its own worst enemy, and that while Macron wants to defend the Continent from the US, China and Russia, “it was Germany in WWI & WWII,” adding that “they were starting to learn German in Paris before the US came along. Pay for NATO or not!”

“We should also work on the vision of one day creating a genuine European army,” Merkel said. “The times in which we could unconditionally rely on others are over.”
