But why would Russia do that? What is there to gain accept international outrage and condemnation and more sanctions? Ukraine had a lot to gain as it fought a battle to stop the Donbass and Luansk regions from separating to self govern and go it alone, something they still blame Russia for a lot was /is at stake.
