Protesters rally against Brash debate tonight at University of Auckland – NZ Herald

KW: Inkeeping with the theme of suppression of free speech and truth we have it in spades here in New Zealand especially in relation to former leader of the National Party Don Brash. Brash raised his head above the parapet when he opened discussion about maori issues in a speech many years ago. Since then maori racists have attacked Brash for daring to open discussion on Treaty of Waitangi claims and the clear gravy train of money being paid to maori claimants, many of the claims addressing historic sores and scars that early colonialists inflicted on maori land owners but none appears to see the trickle down effect that should be happening from the billions being paid out amongst the people who need to be supported in the tribal communities. He is/was also associated with the  Hobsons Pledge campaign about the unelected appointment of maori to local body councils as being undemocratic  which it certainly is. Brash has never been forceful in targetting individual tribes or persons, he simply raises the issues. Now he is being called a racist and problem maker that the gravey train and white apologists wish to isolate.

Brash will lead a debate against Herald writers Simon Wilson and Fran O’Sullivan.
