Australia’s day for secrets, flags and cowards – John Pilger — RT

I was thinking…… How dare I put this under NZ related articles but then it is -related! While New Zealander’s remain divided over race issues based on the Treaty of Waitangi  and the massive compensation payments that are being dished out to tribal complainants rightly or wrongly, just ‘over the ditch’ many of us think ‘Australia has got it sorted out’. Maybe they have maybe they haven’t. This excellent piece throws more light on Australia Day. Soon, in NZ  it will be Waitangi Day where perhaps we are going to see even more fireworks. Will protesters even allow PM John Key onto the marae? Just like Australia the NZ government is going to sign a secret treaty, one where no one knows the fine details clouded under the smokescreen of it being a’ free trade’ deal. But empowering corporate America and elevating their actions above the jurisdiction of New Zealand law, government and courts under ‘investor state dispute settlement’ rules seems totally against the Treaty of Waitangi to me.  (http://itsourfuture.org.nz/the-devil-in-the-tppa-investor-state-dispute-settlement/)    Let’s see what happens.

So… to John Pilger

On 26 January, one of the saddest days in human history will be celebrated in Australia. It will be “a day for families,” say the newspapers owned by Rupert Murdoch. Flags will be dispensed at street corners and displayed on funny hats. People will say incessantly how proud they are.
