Invite Trump but not Putin? WWII anniversary without Russia is just rewriting history — RT Op-ed

KW: There is a saying, “the victors write the history’ ……. and when they don’t like the facts they will alter the story to suit the new narrative. Not inviting Russia to a WW2 comenoration is a massive insult to Russians most all alive today who would have family that were killed in the second world war in defeating Hitlers invasion forces. Having just visited Russian and in particular their war museum in Moscow we all learnt that of the approximately 50million people who were killed in WW2, 26million of them were Russians and of them only 11million were military personel, the rest being civilians. BUT defeat Hitler they did then invading Germany themselves they did. Without this massive sacrifice it s possible to easily imagine the allies invading as they did over the Normandy beaches may have easily been defeated by Hitlers forces but Hitler was distracted by the failure of his eastern campaign in Russia where he ultimately faced defeat at the hands of the Russians thus allowing the Allied invasion success that may otherwise have been failure, a fact that trying to rewrite history won’t achieve. Who are the idiots that dream up such insulting meetings?

Having US and former Axis leaders attend the 80th anniversary of WWII, but not inviting Russia, shows the event in Poland has nothing to do with paying respects to history, and everything to do with present-day politics.
