While this article relates to India it has special ramifications for New Zealand and the TPPA agreement that the National government ell us is such a great story. Whatever is said by those arguing the agreement is a ‘free trade agreement’ it will empower corporates – and they will do what they want whenever they want in the name of profit. I know this sounds like a worn out anti establishment record harping on but one thing I have learned is that you can not trust corporations to do good and honest things, a simple fact of life.

American agrochemical giant Monsanto has threatened to pull out of India and hold back new genetically modified cotton technologies if the government continues its “arbitrary and potentially destructive” interventions that seek to cut the company’s royalty fees.
