The Siege of Aleppo and the defeat of ISIS: the Syrian Crisis Continues.

Waitangi Day evening news and newsreader Peter Williams is telling us all that a new crisis has erupted in Syria and “that it may all be the fault of Russia”. How convenient to slag off Russia as the culprit for all human conflicts and distress. Yes it’s true that thousands more civilian refugees are fleeing Aleppo a major city in Syria’s north West, but why?

I’m angry about this reporting; behind the truth is slanted propaganda wired to news rooms throughout the west by the likes of Reuters, Associated Press, Fox News and other agencies that are controlled by the neocon Washington task masters. News readers don’t think about veracity, no one investigates or challenges it; it came from the US, it must be true. But the fact of the matter it is a twist on the truth that belies the actuality of a situation. I can’t ignore it. Lets look at the factual situation with a mind not to pervert the facts.

The narrative we are all told is that America and its allies (includes New Zealand) are fighting terrorism, particularly ISIS, protecting freedom and bringing democracy around the world. This is why America has been at war in the middle east for 13 years since the invasion of Iraq in 2003, right? If that doesn’t ring an alarm bell in your mind then I’ve lost you already. Think about that for a few seconds….. a freedom and democracy war…. but where has freedom and democracy broken out? Failed states yes, democracy no!

But in Aleppo a new refugee crisis is absolutely real. Thousands fleeing with only the clothes on their back. Why?

The war in Syria is important to understand because it reveals the west’s lies and disguises the real intent. The US has had only one goal, the overthrow of the Assad regime. It’s an open acknowledged fact, no secret, that the US has been arming, equipping and financially supporting what they term ‘moderate rebels’ in Syria.

Actual fact is that the US has been supporting ISIS even though publicly they claim that ISIS is enemy No.1. This has been achieved by the US ignoring its NATO ally Turkey buying Syrian oil stolen by ISIS invaders and sold to Turkey thereby delivering a massive cash flow (hundreds of $millions) for ISIS fighters to buy arms and ammunition from the US itself. Don’t think for one second this is a surprise to the US intelligence community. Additionally the US stands by its murderous ally, Saudi Arabia that delivers the arms and ammunition to ISIS fighters. This too is no surprise to US intelligence. In other words by saying one thing and doing the complete opposite the US is complicit in supporting ISIS in the war against Assad.

US support personnel troops on the ground are uninvited invaders of Syria as they are the rebels trainers. However, the grand plot began to unwind in a major way back in September 2015 when the Assad regime, the legitimate and democratically elected government of Syria requested Russia to assist them with air strikes against ISIS. The US said they had been ‘attacking’ ISIS already for 14 months but so far all that had happened was that ISIS grew stronger by the day while Syria itself became a bombed out hell-hole causing a mass migration of refugees into Europe’s heartland.

The Assad regime was near defeat late 2015 but unlike American airstrikes, Russian airstrikes have been very effective against ISIS not only cutting off the flow of oil to Turkey to a dribble but knocking out American supplied munitions dumps and armaments. Added to this is that Iranian troops and Hezbollah are fighting with the still loyal Syrian Army and these government forces have retaken huge amounts of ISIS held territory, now including Aleppo which is surrounded and cut off from Turkish supply lines. The siege of Aleppo has now commenced and the result will be that ISIS will be defeated there. Rather than outright attack and destruction of the city this siege will be over many months starving ISIS out, hence the mass exodus of civilians right now.

This is what is causing western governments grief. To have been exposed as not actually fighting terrorism and ISIS and to be the ones who are illegal invaders of Syria causes discomfort for the likes of John Kerry trying to make up a new line of explanation as to what US motives are. The real US goal was overthrowing Assad, something parroted by John Key, but now Assad is on the rise. To achieve the US goal now means that the US is going to have to openly declare war on Syria – and Russia, and Iran and Hezbollah. The US strategy is in tatters. Russia has been fighting ISIS and defeating them, hence the twist in news items, ‘it’s all Russia’s fault’.

Local readers of the Hawke’s Bay Today who read the article by Otago University Professor Robert Patman should now understand why this new ‘Voice of America’ wrote that New Zealand, a US puppet state, should push for a resolution in the UN Security Council to authorise the use of force in Syria against ISIS. That is because any foreign force that strikes out in Syria is an invader, illegal. Only Russia and Iran have this authorisation to be doing what they are doing in support of the democratically elected government of Syria so the only way the US can achieve its goal of removing Assad is to confront Russia directly in war. Patman only trumpets US propaganda narratives, I’m glad I’m not paying tuition fees to hear his distortion of truth!

So was Peter Williams right to be saying ‘that it may all be the fault of Russia’? Strictly speaking ‘No’ and once you get the background then you can see how the actual truth of the matter is distorted to make you believe that something sinister is involved. “yes’ is only from the US side because their strategy of “Assad must go” is in ruins. The lie of the West fighting ISIS is exposed!

Footnote Addition: From Zerohedge reporting an article from Reuters 07/02/16

“Russian and Syrian forces intensified their campaign on rebel-held areas around Aleppo that are still home to around 350,000 people and aid workers have said the city – Syria’s largest before the war – could soon fall.”

Can you spot what’s wrong with that quote, from a Reuters piece out today? Here’s the problem: “could soon fall” implies that Aleppo is on the verge of succumbing to enemy forces. It’s not. It’s already in enemy hands and has been for quite some time. What Reuters should have said is this: “…could soon be liberated.”

While we’ll be the first to admit that Bashar al-Assad isn’t exactly the most benevolent leader in the history of statecraft, you can bet most Syrians wish this war had never started and if you were to ask those stranded in Aleppo what their quality of life is like now, versus what it was like in 2009, we’re fairly certain you’ll discover that residents aren’t particularly enamored with life under the mishmash of rebels that now control the city.

In any event, Russia and Iran have encircled Aleppo and once it “falls” (to quote Reuters) that’s pretty much it for the opposition. Or at least for the “moderate” opposition. And the Saudis and Turks know it.

So does John Kerry, who is desperate to restart stalled peace negotiations in Geneva. The problem for the US and its regional allies is simple: if Russia and Iran wipe out the opposition on the battlefield, there’s no need for peace talks. The Assad government will have been restored and that will be that. ISIS will still be operating in the east, but that’s a problem Moscow and Tehran will solve in short order once the country’s major urban centers are secured.
