The Trans-Pacific Partnership is dead, Schumer tells labor leaders – The Washington Post

KW: Fantastic news for New Zealand that is going to continue to be able to avoid multi national corporates suing for loss of profits like McDonalds is currently doing to the city of Florence (https://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/nov/07/mcdonalds-claims-20m-from-florence-over-piazza-restaurant-rebuff)  no doubt using the NAFTA agreement as the basis to sue for loss of potential profits when the City planners said ‘No’ we don’t want a McDonalds on this particular site. This folks would be the nature of TPPA, multi nationals riding ruffshod over our local or soveriegn laws, Trade was just the mechaism to provide this empowerment that was more for the 1% and less for the rest of us. Thank you Donald!

President Obama’s signature global trade deal had been on life support for months, and Donald Trump’s triumph in the presidential race cemented its fate.
