KW: All round disgusting human being and warmonger John Bolton according to Trump has been fired.

Whatever prompted US President Donald Trump to decide the services of his national security adviser John Bolton were “no longer needed,” the question now is if he intends to retreat from the hawkish path Bolton had blazed. Trump made the announcement on Twitter, as usual, saying he “disagreed strongly with many of [Bolton’s] suggestions” and therefore asked for his resignation – and received it on Tuesday. Bolton’s response perhaps illustrated the nature of his relationship with Trump: he tweeted only a confirmation that he’d offered to resign, then leaked an account to the media disputing Trump’s version of events. Despite ‘disagreeing strongly with many of his suggestions’ Trump kept warmongering and beligerent Bolton in place for near 2 years. 

We can only hope and think that the world is slightly safer this morning than yesterday.  Many of Bolton’s priorities and policies did not align with” Trump’s, the White House said in a statement to the media on Tuesday, seeking to explain the adviser’s departure. Yet that was just as true 24 months ago, when Bolton was appointed. The proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back seems to have been Bolton’s opposition to peace in Afghanistan. Trump had pushed for a peace agreement with the Taliban and talked about pulling the US troops out – only to announce last week that he had scrapped the planned meeting at Camp David due to a suicide attack. While Bolton remained on the job, and the US policies he pushed on Iran, North Korea and Venezuela kept getting harsher, without delivering the desired results.

The biggest mystery in Washington is not so much why John Bolton was fired, but why he was hired in the first place. The question is. Can we hope for an improvement? Possibly not.

One less warmongering neo-con in the swamp.
